Line Check

Help, privacy information, and terms for kitchen owners and staff. Updated November 4, 2026.

Help

Contact lc-support@directionofbusiness.com for help. Do not email staff PINs, vault passphrases, device credentials, customer details, or kitchen photos unless support specifically requests a necessary, redacted example.

Records and kitchen limits

Line Check supports equipment rounds, corrective actions, cooking and cooling observations, date labels, receiving, sanitizer records, and PDF reports. Configure your equipment and schedules to match your kitchen. Follow applicable local requirements and actual product labels. General FDA model-code presets do not establish your jurisdiction’s adopted requirements or validate a recipe.

Protect and recover your kitchen

Local records can be protected using a vault passphrase. Keep the passphrase and an exported backup safely: we cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. Staff PINs identify who entered a record; they do not encrypt the vault or establish a verified electronic signature. On a shared service, keep the owner device credential privately to reconnect to the same kitchen. An independent new kitchen has a different identity.

Reminders and reports

Reminders are best effort. Permission, device settings, connectivity, background restrictions, time changes, or provider outages can prevent delivery. Never rely on reminders instead of directly checking food and equipment. PDFs are readable copies and may include staff names and observations. Selected corrective-action photos remain in the kitchen records and are not embedded in PDFs.

Subscriptions

The planned US price is $19 monthly or $190 yearly per kitchen, with a 14-day introductory trial for eligible store accounts. Availability and any trial are confirmed by Apple before purchase. The app displays the store’s localized price and billing period. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Restore purchases within the same authorized kitchen; manage or cancel in your Apple account subscription settings. Deleting records does not cancel a subscription. Existing records, exports and deletion remain accessible after expiry. Production subscriptions and hosted delivery require activation; this page does not promise availability in an unreleased build.

Privacy

Direction of Business provides Line Check. For privacy requests contact lc-privacy@directionofbusiness.com.

Information you enter

The app stores kitchen name and timezone, equipment and schedules, staff first names and roles, salted PIN verification hashes, record timestamps and attribution, temperatures, corrective actions, notes, selected photos, and related kitchen observations. Keep customer information, faces, and unrelated personal information out of notes and photos. Vault passphrases are used locally and are not sent to the kitchen service.

Local storage and backups

Mobile records use local app storage; the browser uses IndexedDB. Vault encryption is optional and must be enabled by the owner. Unprotected records are readable to someone with access to that storage. Native device authorization credentials and verified subscription caches use the operating system’s secure store; browser authorization stays in tab memory. Device credentials and subscription caches are excluded from exported kitchen backups. Exported unencrypted backups, PDFs, shared files, and email attachments are separate readable copies.

Optional shared kitchen service

When an authorized kitchen service is configured and connected, the app transmits staff names and salted PIN hashes, records, selected photos, audit history, and device authorization over HTTPS. Shared records are accessible to authorized kitchen devices and service operators. This is not end-to-end encryption. Hosting and database processing use the configured kitchen service; the current implementation targets Cloudflare Workers and D1. Production hosting must be activated before shared service is offered.

Optional owner email and push

Weekly email requires a verified recipient and explicit owner opt-in. Verification codes expire after ten minutes; the service stores only a keyed hash and limits verification attempts. Weekly reports include kitchen observations and staff attribution. Email processing uses Resend; PDF rendering uses Cloudflare Browser Run when activated. Owner push registration uses Expo and Apple or Google notification services, receiving a device push token and generic alert text. Push messages do not include staff names, record notes, or photos. Manage these choices in Setup → Owner delivery. Removing a recipient or unregistering a device stops future configured deliveries; already-delivered copies cannot be recalled.

Purchases

Apple processes payment. Line Check does not receive payment card details. To verify access, the service processes the store’s signed transaction, product and original transaction identifiers, subscription status and expiry, and a kitchen account identifier. Store notification identifiers are used to prevent duplicate processing. The app may keep a verified entitlement in secure storage for bounded offline use. Purchases are assigned to one kitchen.

Retention and access

Kitchen records remain until deleted by the owner. Original observations and amendments are retained in the audit history. Delivery verification challenges expire after ten minutes, delivery metadata after thirty days, and temporary PDF retry artifacts are removed after successful delivery, cancellation, expiry or permanent failure. Subscription notification identifiers expire after thirty days. Shared subscription records are removed with the kitchen. Providers and stores may retain their own operational or legally required records under their policies. You can export records and request service deletion as described below.

Permissions and tracking

Camera access is requested for an optional corrective-action photo. You select any imported image through the system picker. Notification permission is optional. The app does not request location or advertising identifiers and includes no advertising or analytics tracking in its application source. Permissions can be changed in device settings. Children are not the intended users; the app is for kitchen owners and staff.

Delete records and service access

Export a backup first if you need to retain records. In Setup, use local deletion, enter the exact kitchen name, and confirm with a fresh owner PIN. This removes that device’s local kitchen records and disconnects its service authorization.

For a connected shared kitchen, an owner-authorized device can delete the shared kitchen in Setup after exact-name and PIN confirmation. This removes its hosted kitchen records, delivery settings and subscription entitlement association, and revokes all device access. Local copies on other devices, exported backups, PDFs and previously delivered emails remain separate; remove those copies individually.

If you cannot access the app, email lc-privacy@directionofbusiness.com with the kitchen name and a request to delete hosted records. We will verify ownership without asking for your PIN, passphrase or payment card details. Deletion cannot recall files you shared. Cancel store billing separately in Apple subscription settings.

Terms

Line Check is a recordkeeping tool, not a food-safety certification, inspection approval, professional consultation, or guarantee. You remain responsible for accurate observations, equipment, food handling, staff procedures, adopted local requirements, product labels, corrective actions and required retention. Device clocks and user-entered observations are not independently verified. Configure limits and review records with a qualified professional.

Use the app only for kitchens and records you are authorized to manage. Protect credentials, limit staff access, retain appropriate backups, and obtain permission for information you enter. Do not enter unrelated private information or use the app unlawfully. Service and reminder availability may be interrupted. Paid features require a valid store entitlement when billing is activated; store terms govern payment, trial eligibility, cancellation and refunds.

The iOS app uses Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement. These service terms describe operation alongside that agreement and applicable law. For questions contact lc-support@directionofbusiness.com.
